In 1860, John I. Blair built the brick store house at Delaware Station. Many successful proprietors occupied this building. It was first rented to Mr. James Dye. In 1864, Prall and Wyckoff bought it from John I. Blair. They continued in business for 25 years. The business then changed to James Prall and Brother. James Prall retired from the business in a year’s time. His brother and O. H. McMurtrie took over the store and it became Prall and McMurtrie. Other businessmen that have occupied the brick store house are; Prall, Jones & Co., Jones and Smith, and Jones and Quig. The present owner of the store is Charles Hartung. The Delaware Post Office is also located in this brick building. The pioneer postmaster at Delaware Station was Charles Cool. He was appointed in 1957, and was succeeded by James R. Dye, when the Post Office was removed from the hotel to the brick store. Our present postmistress is Jean Ewan.
